Psalm 52

Vers 1
Waartoe u dus beroemd in't kwade,
Vermeet'le dwingeland?
Ik steun gerust op Gods genade
En trouwen onderstand.
Zijn goedheid duurt den gansen dag;
Zijn almacht wekt ontzag.

Vers 2
Uw tong, die toelegt om te schaden,
En als een scheermes snijdt,
Durft zich met snood bedrog beraden,
Uit bitt'ren wrok en nijd.
Gij mint het onrecht; haat de deugd;
De logen baart u vreugd'.

Vers 3
Gij grieft mij door uw schamp're woorden,
Door taal, die mij verbaast;
Gij tracht mij door uw tong te moorden;
Maar beef; gij wordt welhaast
Door God, die uw gedrag verfoeit,
Voor eeuwig uitgeroeid.

Vers 4
God zal u voor Zijn wraak doen bukken,
En, door Zijn sterke hand,
U uit uw tent en schuilplaats rukken;
Ontwort'len uit uw stand.
De vromen zullen, vrij van nood
Dan lachen om uw dood.

Vers 5
"Zie", zal men zeggen, "zie den dwaze,
Die, op zijn rijkdom stout,
Ons wilde door zijn macht verbazen,
Op God niet heeft vertrouwd;
Zijn sterkte kreeg hij door geweld;
Nu ligt hij neergeveld."

Vers 6
Maar ik zal als d' olijfboom groeien,
In 't huis des groten Gods;
Ik zal in eer en godsvrucht bloeien.
God is mijn steun en rots;
Op Zijne gunst, mij toegezeid,
Vertrouw 'k in eeuwigheid.

Vers 7
Mijn God, U zal ik eeuwig loven,
Omdat Gij 't hebt gedaan;
'k Verwacht Uw trouwe hulp van boven;
Uw waarheid zal bestaan;
Uw naam is voor 't oprecht gemoed
Van al Uw gunstvolk goed.

Psalm 52

1 To the chief Musician, Maschil, [A Psalm] of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech.
Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God [endureth] continually.

2 Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

3 Thou lovest evil more than good; [and] lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.

4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O [thou] deceitful tongue.

5 God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of [thy] dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.

6 The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:

7 Lo, [this is] the man [that] made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, [and] strengthened himself in his wickedness.

8 But I [am] like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.

9 I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done [it]: and I will wait on thy name; for [it is] good before thy saints.
