Psalm 85
Vers 1
Gij hebt Uw land, o HEER, die gunst betoond,
Dat Jacobs zaad opnieuw in vrijheid woont;
De schuld Uws volks hebt G' uit Uw boek gedaan;
Ook ziet Gij geen van hunne zonden aan;
Gij vindt in gunst, en niet in wraak, Uw lust;
De hitte van Uw gramschap is geblust.
O heilrijk God, weer verder ons verdriet,
Keer af Uw wraak, en doe Uw toorn te niet.
Vers 2
Heeft dan, o HEER, Uw gramschap nimmer end?
Zal z' eindlijk niet eens worden afgewend?
Of zal Uw toorn ook op ons nakroost woên?
Zult g' Uit den dood ons niet herleven doen,
Opdat Uw volk zich weer in U verblij'?
Dat toch, o HEER, Uw goedheid ons bevrij';
Geef ons Uw heil, en red door Uwe hand,
Uit vrije gunst, het zuchtend vaderland.
Vers 3
Merk op, mijn ziel, wat antwoord God u geeft;
Hij spreekt gewis tot elk, die voor Hem leeft,
Zijn gunstgenoot, van blijden troost en vreê,
Mits hij niet weer op 't spoor der dwaasheid treê.
Voorwaar, Gods heil is reeds nabij 't geslacht,
Hetwelk Hem vreest en Zijne hulp verwacht;
Opdat er eer in onzen lande woon'
En zich aldaar op 't luisterrijkst vertoon'.
Vers 4
Dan wordt genâ van waarheid blij ontmoet;
De vrede met een kus van 't recht gegroet;
Dan spruit de trouw uit d' aarde blij omhoog;
Gerechtigheid ziet neer van 's hemels boog;
Dan zal de HEER ons 't goede weer doen zien;
Dan zal ons 't land zijn volle garven biên;
Gerechtigheid gaat voor Zijn aangezicht,
Hij zet z' alom, waar Hij Zijn treden richt.

Psalm 85
1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.
LORD, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.
2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.
3 Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned [thyself] from the fierceness of thine anger.
4 Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.
5 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?
6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
7 Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.
8 I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
9 Surely his salvation [is] nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.
10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed [each other].
11 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
12 Yea, the LORD shall give [that which is] good; and our land shall yield her increase.
13 Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set [us] in the way of his steps.
